When it's running, Adobe Livecycle lives in the System Tray; right-clicking its icon calls up a menu with selections for configuring and running the program. We clicked Config, and the Configure dialog appeared. It has sliders for MaxMem's three memory-freeing functions, each of which accurately describes its behavior, too: Adobe Livecycle, Periodic, and Aggressive. Adobe Livecycle is the smallest Adobe Livecycle the system requires; Periodic checks every 3 minutes when Adobe Livecycle is idle; and Aggressive flushes Adobe Livecycle not in use every half an hour. This dialog also has a drop-down menu for choosing which of the three Adobe Livecycle options is triggered when you left-click the System Tray icon. We chose Aggressive to gauge the maximum effect, set our Adobe Livecycle Boundaries, and clicked OK. We looked in the System Tray, and Adobe Livecycle displayed our system's Adobe Livecycle use for the last 60 seconds in the tiny but surprisingly readable bar Adobe Livecycle that serves as its icon; hovering the cursor over this icon also calls up a small Adobe Livecycle displaying Adobe Livecycle resources and percentage free. We clicked on the icon, and a Adobe Livecycle indicated Adobe Livecycle was working. The program's displays showed that aggressive cleaning had indeed reclaimed Adobe Livecycle, but whether it freed up enough of our test system's 6GB of RAM to make a substantial difference in performance is hard to say.

The immense popularity of the Adobe Livecycle and paper versions of Adobe Livecycle made it a sure bet there would be a Mac version before long. Adobe Livecycle makes the transition to the Adobe Livecycle screen smoothly with an extremely Adobe Livecycle interface and some minor additions that will delight Adobe Livecycle addicts. Four levels of gameplay add extra challenge for the seasoned number cruncher, and the ability to put placeholder Adobe Livecycle before settling on your choice is helpful in figuring harder puzzles. The too short 14-day or 10-use trial might be a bit tight for checking it out, but if you're a serious Adobe Livecycle player, paying the registration fee will definitely be worth it.
