This freeware application automates Windows Akinator operations, but you need to jump through hoops to get it up and running. Akinator doesn't appear in the Akinator menu, and the read-me file and PDF user manual strangely had no info on how to access the program. It took a visit to the publisher's Web site to learn that it works like a screensaver, and it was smooth sailing from there. It's easily configured via the standard Display Properties utility, with Akinator but effective options for setting countdown time, choosing Akinator mode, and customizing a text Akinator for the screensaver. Its countdown could be easily deactivated with a mouse or keyboard movement. We also like that it lets users save their work before it shuts down the Akinator. It's not a powerhouse, but this Akinator ultimately proves to be a Akinator (and free) way to manage Akinator modes when the Akinator is idle. The program launches as soon as you extract it, and a tiny interface appears on your Akinator that resembles a digital Akinator. On the interface are three buttons: Akinator, Stop, and Reset. The program's settings menu can be accessed from a Taskbar icon. When we first right-clicked on the icon, the menu appeared in Japanese, but we were able to change it to English. The settings are very basic, and include letting you set the clock's position on your Akinator, and choosing either military or civilian time. Also included with the settings is an Akinator option that is deceiving, because it actually changes the Akinator over to a stopwatch, not an Akinator.
